Junior Theatre debuts two productions
The San Diego Junior Theatre’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” opens at the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse at 7 p.m. March 19 and runs through March 28.
Based on William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy that suggests “the course of true love never did run true,” the Junior Theatre’s production is directed by actor/educator Ed Hollingsworth. The show is recommended for ages 8 and older. Performances are at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sundays. The La Jolla YMCA Firehouse Theatre is at 7877 Herschel Ave. in La Jolla.
It’s the final week for San Diego Junior Theatre’s production of “Pippi Longstocking,” at Casa del Prado, Balboa Park. Show times are at 7 p.m. March 19 and 2 p.m. March 20 and March 21. An ASL performance is set for March 20.
Directed by Rayme Sciaroni and based on the children’s books by Astrid Lindgren, this version is a musical.
Without any adult supervision or guidance, Pippi lives life to the fullest and untraditionally. Her unusual physical attributes and outrageous, albeit good-natured, antics keep everyone around her on their toes in this tale of adventure and friendship. The show is suitable for all ages.
San Diego Junior Theatre is in its 62nd season with nine productions at its sites in Balboa Park and La Jolla. A private nonprofit organization, Junior Theatre is dedicated to providing all youths, ages 4–18, with an opportunity to experience theater arts through innovative classes, camps, performances and outreach programs.
