Jeans for Genes is fashionable fun

Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center threw a party to benefit cancer research at the Del Mar Race Track recently. The event was dubbed Jeans for Genes, and guests were encouraged to dress in “formal” jeans for the occasion.

Creativity reigned supreme, despite the challenging theme. Most of the ladies put plenty of dazzle in their denims, and some of the men came up with spectacular looks of their own. Don Breitenberg put John Wayne to shame with his stunning Western duds.

Caroline and Sidney Kimmel were honorary chairs, with support from a huge honorary committee that included Sheila and Jeff Lipinsky, Katherine Kennedy, Robert Horsman, Linnea and Frank Arrington, Stacy and Paul Jacobs, Lyn and Dr. Stephen Krant, and Virginia Monday.

The event featured cocktails, dinner and dancing. The La Jolla guest list included Jeanne Jones, Barbara Bloom, Ralph and Gail Bryan, Derrick and Lauren Cartwright, Karen Cohn, Harry and Valerie Cooper, Murray and Elaine Galinson, Geri Warnke, Allan and Barbara Goodman, Mel and Isabelle Wasserman, and Gerald and Jeanne Warnke.
