J*Company presents ‘Cinderella’

The J*Company Youth Theatre will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” (the first made-for-television musical) from May 6-16 at the Garfield Theatre in the Jewish Community Center, La Jolla.

“Cinderella” was originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews. In 1965, it was remade with Lesley Ann Warren in the title role, and a second remake came in 1997 with Brandy as Cinderella. According to the J*Company, “Our 2010 stage adaptation will continue to delight with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity.”

Artistic Director Joey Landwehr said of his cast: “These young artists are absolutely incredible. ... I know you will be delighted with every twist and turn we have put into this classic fairy tale that will be filled with warmth and happiness.”

Heading the cast are Hannah Houts (Cinderella) and David Ahmadian (Prince) of Carmel Valley Middle School, Samantha Tullie (Godmother) of Solana Santa Fe, Hallie Bodenstab (Stepmother) of Muirlands Middle School, Ilana Engel (Portia, the Dimwitted Sister) of San Diego Jewish Academy, Celia Tedde (Joy, the Sullen Stepsister) of San Diego Cooperative Charter School, Ethan Rappaport (King) of Rancho Santa Fe Middle School and Keila Ashkenasi (Queen) of Muirlands Middle School.
