Acceptable submissions this year included 2-D and 3-D media, with the exception of functional or craft art. All submissions were completed within the past five years. Each year, a prominent arts administrator from a local gallery or institution is selected by the Athenaeum’s executive director Erika Torri, to serve as a juror. This year’s jurors were Kathryn Kanjo, head of curatorial at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and Joseph Bellows, owner of Joseph Bellows Gallery in La Jolla.
