On July 27, 150 La Jolla Playhouse supporters dined under the stars at a special benefit designed by Wolfgang Puck: Taste of Summer. Held at the Playhouse’s on-site restaurant, Jai, the event featured award-winning cuisine from Puck’s leading restaurants: Jai, Spago, Postrio, Cut and Chinois.

Celebrity guests BD Wong, known for his roles in “M. Butterfly” and “Law & Order: SVU,” who is starring in the Playhouse’s current production of “Herringbone,” and his director, Roger Rees, mingled with theater lovers.

The real celebrities of the night were the mouth-watering Wolfgang Puck dishes and custom-created treats from San Diego cookie-makers 410 Degrees. The cookie company joined Jai and the La Jolla Light as sponsors.

Award-winning winemaker (and Bishop’s School graduate) Reed Renaudin poured his Amicus Cellar wines from X Winery.

Guests at the chef’s table enjoyed high-end wines and champagne, as well as a special dessert prepared by Chef Yoshi of Jai.

Orange County music duo The PawnShop Kings brought their distinctly mellow vibe to the festivities, playing throughout the night, while Wolfgang Puck chef Matt Bencivenga visited with diners, providing insight into the creations from the Puck restaurants.
