Indecent exposure incident reported near Bird Rock school

Police said Friday they had received a single report of an incident of indecent exposure that occurred near Bird Rock Elementary School.

Capt. Chris Ball, commander of the Northern Division, said the report was relayed by the school’s principal Carol Barry. The victim, an adult walking her dog in the alley near the upper field area, “flagged down the principal,” Ball said.

He said a man approached the woman, asked her for a date and “at some point exposed himself.”

He cautioned that there’s no way to know if the incident is related to any others.

Ball said the second-hand report indicated the man was Hispanic, possibly with a ponytail, and the vehicle was “possibly a white pickup.”

An e-mail sent to members of the Bird Rock Community Council contained a message from Barry stating that the truck had garden tools in the back. She said no students, parents or staff members were involved in the reported incident.

She wrote that anyone with information about this or other suspicious activity in the neighborhood should contact the police at (858) 552-1725.
