Green candidate forum set for Oct. 2

A green issues forum featuring San Diego candidates for national, statewide and local offices will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 2 at the California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE), 8690 Balboa Ave.

Presented by CCSE and the Sustainability Alliance of Southern California, the forum will address sustainable energy, transportation, national security and water and land-use planning efforts.

Among the candidates attending the forum will be Assemblyman Marty Block, candidate for the 78th Assembly District; Francine Busby, candidate for the 50th U.S. Congressional District; Del Mar Councilwoman Crystal Crawford, candidate for the 74th Assembly District; Ralph Denney, candidate for the 76th Assembly District; Vista Councilman Steve Gronke, candidate for county supervisor, 5th District; Supervisor Ron Roberts, candidate for county supervisor, 4th District; Duane Roberts, candidate for U.S. Senate; Howard Wayne, candidate for San Diego City Council 6th District; and Stephen Whitburn, candidate for county supervisor, 4th District.

All other regional candidates have been invited to speak as well.

Candidates will take questions on a host of sustainability issues, including green jobs, renewable energy, environmental protection, green technology, greenhouse gas emissions and related policies, regulations and ballot propositions, such as Proposition 23.
