Golden Hanger Awards celebrates local fashion

Fashion was in the forefront at the 21st Annual Golden Hanger Fashion Awards Gala recently. The event, held at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center, started with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and a very special fashion show - with celebrities and Make-A-Wish children modeling cutting-edge designs by students of Fashion Careers College.

Patricia O’Connor, founder of Fashion Careers College, chaired the successful event, with news anchor Sandra Maas as mistress of ceremonies. La Jolla’s own Jeanne Jones was honored for her “outstanding contribution to the San Diego community.” Jeanie Haar of Leatherock, Jim Crawford (producer of the fashion show for the past 12 years) and Mark McMahon of Mission Playground were recognized for their achievements in San Diego’s growing fashion industry.

The large local turnout included Tom and Cindy Goodman, Mitch Goldman and Dianne York-Goldman, Ingrid Hibben, Barbara Zobell, Don Breitenberg, Peggy Matthews, Darwin Dapper and Paula Kincaid, Supervisor Pam Slater-Price and Hershell Price, and Dante Arminio (a three-year-old Make-A-Wish kid from La Jolla). Dante was accompanied by his parents Tracy and Vito Arminio.
