Gillispie celebrates International Day
More than 50 parent and teacher volunteers at The Gillispie School hosted the seventh annual International Day. With passports in hand, the prekindergarten through 6th grade students “visited 11 countries,” learning about the different cultures and traditions and even sampling authentic foods. The younger, early childhood students also participated in special activities that included music, crafts and face painting of flags.
Teacher Jessica Epperson, coordinator of the event, said, “This program was originally developed to be used as part of our Social Studies curriculum and has since become one of the most anticipated school days of the year — the global focus helps meet our mission of developing forward thinking students.”
