‘Friend-raiser’ salutes Lillian Fishman on her 95th birthday

Dr. Andrew and Erna Viterbi opened their home to more than 90 guests for “A Night of Magic and Medicine” on May 18.

The event was a “friend-raiser” for the Fishman Fund, which makes $5,000 grants each year for young scientists at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute to help them advance their scientific careers.

The night featured an outdoor reception and buffet dinner with brief talks by Dr. Viterbi; Dr. Kristiina Vuori, president of Sanford-Burnham; Reena Horowitz, co-founder of the Fishman Fund; and Jeanne Jones, as well as a 15-minute magic show.

The event also honored Lillian Fishman, co-founder of Sanford-Burnham, who recently celebrated her 95th birthday.
