Free tree workshop scheduled for Feb. 4
A free workshop on Feb. 4 will offer tips on tree maintenance and seedling planting practices. Sponsored by the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County, it will feature foresters from CALFIRE, the USDA Forest Service and arborists from the University of California Extension Riverside and the Professional Tree Care Association of San Diego County as featured speakers.
The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at Mission Trails Regional Park, Classroom A, 1 Father Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego.
Workshop participants will learn about selecting seeds, handling tree seedlings and giving seedlings the best chance to survive San Diego’s arid climate. At the end of the workshop, each participant will receive free seedlings of Jeffrey pine or Coulter pine.
