The Foundation for Women was the benefactor of “Le Cirque 2008 - a festive gala celebrating the organization’s 10th anniversary. The event, held at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, featured entertainment by the World Beat Center and a performance by Niancho Eniyaley and Sene Africa from World Beat Cultural Center. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with African textiles, masks and other appropriate artifacts.

The colorful event offered supporters an inside view of this global movement to eliminate poverty. The Foundation serves impoverished women locally and globally by funding and creating “microcredit programs” in Tamil Nadu, India, Zambia, South Africa, Niger, Liberia and San Diego.

Audrey Geisel was among the generous donors on the Honorary Committee. Kristina Koltai chaired the event with a large, hard-working committee that included Kristi Pieper. La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center was a major contributor.

A large La Jolla contingency attended, including Deborah Lindholm (founder and executive director of the organization), Lora and Tom Fisher, Pamela Esserian, Dianne York-Goldman, Sara Valleiy, Kristi Pieper, Regan Brown, Connie Delatorre, Jeanie Scott, Andrea Schmidt and Dolores Hickman.
