A public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 on the environmental reports for the Southwest Fisheries Science Center.
The facility, planned on land owned by UCSD on La Jolla Shores Drive, would replace four buildings on the west side of the street that must be replaced because bluffs below are eroding and they do not meet current earthquake and building codes. The new facility, which will include landscaping on the roof to disguise it and help with cooling, will be built around a sea- and fresh-water test tank facility.
The architectural team for the project includes Gould Evans Associates and Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues and Barker.
The environmental report is available for review at the La Jolla Library or
The meeting will be held at the fisheries center’s Building A which is located at 8604 La Jolla Shores Drive.
