Firm gets international exposure for La Jolla
Engel & Völkers enters Village realty marketThere’s a new realty service in La Jolla with a European flair and international air.
Diane M. Galigher, branch manager and owner of recently opened Engel & Völkers, said she’s bringing something new to the Village realty market.
She cited “connectivity to all our 600 offices in 32 countries on five continents. If I list a home in La Jolla today, that listing will go out to all 600 offices throughout the world.”
Galigher gave an example of how the Engel & Völkers system works. She said a customer came into the La Jolla office the other day interested in buying real estate in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
“We showed him all the properties we have in Dubai here in this office right up on the virtual-tour screen,” she said.
“Then we turned that customer over to one of our partners in Dubai and they’re now working together.”
Founded in Hamburg, Germany in 1977, Engel and Völkers is a globally operational service provision company specialized in the brokerage of premium residential property, commercial real estate and yachts. The company operates under a license partner system ensuring international presence and specialization in sub-markets. “We don’t franchise,” Galigher said.
Engel & Völkers just recently began operating in the United States, setting up shop initially in New York and Florida on the East Coast. Galigher said the company has come to California because it saw real business opportunity and growth potential throughout the state.
What Engel & Völkers brings to the table, said Galigher, is a method to help Realtors better leverage available properties.
Who are Engel & Völkers’ clients?
“They’re all over the map,” Galigher said. “We have more than 300 clients all over the world, everyone from sheiks and queens and princesses to celebrities to your average homeowner.”
It’s no mistake that Engel & Völkers has come to the Jewel.
“La Jolla is a unique, cosmopolitan environment unlike anything else in Southern California,” said Galigher, noting she’s been more than pleased with the exposure her firm has received being located in the downtown Village for just a month.
“I would not have bought the (partner) license had I not got this exact place,” she said. “What better place to introduce a whole new company than a place where everybody walks by? I’ve got more fingerprints on my window than any other window in this city right now.”
Engel & Völkers’ European operations also sell commercial real estate and yachts, which is something to be added to the company’s repertoire domestically in the future.
