Firefighters spark interest

First-graders in Sandra Sibley’s class at Bird Rock Elementary recently were treated to a field trip at Fire Station 21 in Pacific Beach and the lifeguard station nearby. The firefighters gave the youngsters a good workout in the sand, where the students learned that hauling a fire hose is hard work. They also practiced ‘Stop, Drop and Roll’ and learned other rules about fire safety.
