Female pedestrian struck by vehicle backing up on Girard Avenue sustains head injury
A woman identified by police as being in her mid-60s was seriously injured this morning about 8:30 a.m. while crossing Girard Avenue near the corner of Pearl Street, outside the crosswalk, when she was accidentally struck by a car backing out of an angled parking space that did not see her.
Officer Jim Reschk of the San Diego Police Department on the scene said the hospital reported a CT-Scan revealed the unidentified woman had a brain bleed following the incident in which she was knocked to the ground and struck her head on the pavement.
No one was detained and there were no arrests.
Girard Avenue between Pearl Street and La Jolla Elementary School was closed off for several minutes.
