A tentative date and time — 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 — have been set for the La Jolla Shores Merchants Association’s third annual Fall Fest on Avenida de la Playa.
“It is very much local, and we need our businesses to donate the goodies to make it fun,” said Noelle Wojdowski, who is chairing the event designed to knit the community together.
Fest activities this year are to include face-painting and a jumper for children as well as appearances by local bands Hullaballoo and the Blonde Brothers.
La Jolla Shores’ Fall Fest was started two years ago primarily as a fun idea to promote the community and earn a few dollars to benefit local causes.
Wojdowski said event proceeds cover the cost of hosting the event and anything left over is donated to worthy projects such as the children’s playground at Kellogg Park or The Map.
The cost will continue to be $5 and will include a raffle with prizes donated by local merchants.
Local restaurants such as Osteria Romantica, Papalulu’s and Barbarella’s offer samples form their menus. Goodies are also given out from surf shops, boutiques and businesses along Avenida de la Playa’s commercial district.
Volunteers are being sought to help organize and carry out the event. Those interested should e-mail
