Facing the challenge

Challenged and able-bodied athletes — more than 600 of them — put their bodies to the test in the San Diego Triathlon Challenge on Sunday. Counting the Tour de Cove spinathon, a 5K and children’s fun run, the event raised more than $1.069 million for the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The eight-day Qualcomm Million Challenge, which saw 100 riders travel from Northern California to La Jolla, raised an additional $1,003,893.
