  1. Keep the summer thermostat at 78°F.
  2. Turn off air conditioner when you leave home.
  3. Close curtains or shades to keep house cool.
  4. Use room fans to increase comfort.
  5. Avoid baking and other indoor heat-producting activities on hot days.
  6. Ventilate when its cooler outside than inside.
  7. Replace light bulbs with ones that have earned the government’s Energy Star.
  8. Once a month, change appliance filters or clean permanent filters.
  9. Every spring have a qualified, licensed heating and cooling professional check your total system for proper and efficient operation.
