Whole Foods to host Earth Fair

The Whole Foods Market La Jolla is hosting a free Earth Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 25. The event will feature yoga, eco-friendly vendors, jewelry and a barbecue. Whole Foods is at 8825 Villa La Jolla Drive, La Jolla.

Empty bowls for TACO set

The third annual Empty Bowls for TACO will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 at La Jolla United Methodist Church. Empty Bowls brings together local restaurants and local artisan potters to help fight hunger with TACO (Third Avenue Charitable Organization).

Participants choose a handmade bowl from dozens donated by local potters. Next, participants fill the bowl with soup from a local restaurant of their choice and are encouraged donate $20 to benefit TACO. All proceeds go to fight hunger in downtown San Diego. Empty Bowls is a national organization that originated from a fundraiser in a Michigan high school art class. Participating restaurants include Bread & Cie, Bernini’s Bistro, The Cottage, Waters Catering, The Cottage, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, Point Loma Seafoods and many more.
