Depeche Mode cancels San Diego concert
A concert scheduled for tonight by English new wave band Depeche Mode at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre was canceled because the lead singer was ordered to rest his vocal chords.
Doctors have ordered complete vocal rest for Dave Gahan for several days.
“We are incredibly disappointed to not be able to perform for our fans tonight in San Diego,’’ Gahan said in a statement e-mailed to the media. “We hope to be back soon to play for all of our fans in the area.’’
A new San Diego date won’t be scheduled this year, however, because of the band’s busy schedule. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
The group canceled a show in the Bay Area on Wednesday for the same reason.
The tour is set to continue with two dates in Los Angeles beginning Sunday.
