Deadline closing in to pay property taxes
Less than two weeks remain until the second installment of 2009-10 property taxes are due in San Diego County, Treasurer- Tax Collector Dan McAllister said Tuesday.
Because the traditional due date of April 10 falls on a Saturday, the county will accept collections on Monday, April 12, McAllister said.
He said 982,000 tax bills were mailed in September, which are expected to generate $4.5 billion in revenue.
However, more than 47,000 first installments were missed, totaling $93,411,183, or 4.15 percent of anticipated income, according to McAllister.

, or in person at the County Administration Building on Pacific Highway; 590 Third Ave. in Chula Vista; 200 S. Magnolia Ave. in El Cajon; 9225Clairemont Mesa Blvd. in Kearny Mesa; and 141 E. Carmel St. in San Marcos.
The Chula Vista and Kearny Mesa offices were temporarily re-opened to accept collections.
