Dance students entertain Legion members

A group of fourth and fifth graders from the magnet school of Valencia Park for Academics, Drama and Dance at Valencia Park High School entertained members of the American Legion Post 275 at a recent meeting.

The dancers were accompanied by theater teacher Terri Ang, dance teacher Gaylene Davis and and magnet coordinator/theater teacher Patrick Garcia.

Some of the children’s parents had gone to Valencia Park 25 years ago and now make the costumes and help out in many ways, reported Herman Froeb of the Legion post.

“One could feel the esprit de corps of the performers, some of whom indicated they wanted to be in ‘show biz’ and, indeed, we were told that they have alumni who have gone on in this field,” he said.

The American Legion will start its new season on Sept. 16, with an evening meeting. All veterans and active duty service men and women are encouraged to attend our next meeting. The group meets at the La Jolla Shores Hotel.

Froeb saidi they hope to have a historian talk on the Invasion of Normandy at that time.
