An autopsy is scheduled Monday for an Escondido man fatally injured Sunday when he was thrown from his vehicle as it overturned several times in Rose Canyon.
Michael Maala Serrano, 28, was fatally injured in the roughly 2:05 a.m. crash on La Jolla Parkway, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
His vehicle struck a guard rail and overturned, coming to rest about 100 feet west of the Interstate 5-state Route 52 interchange, San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare said.
Two male passengers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Sgt. Art Campa said Serrano was driving fast, and the wreck occurred after a sharp curve.
The road was closed for about seven hours during the investigation, but re-opened shortly before 9:30 a.m.
