Courts closed Wednesday

All courtrooms and business offices of the San Diego Superior Court will remain shut today as part of the one-day-a-month closing for all state courts resulting from California’s financial crisis.

This month’s closing is expected to be the last for the next two months.

Officials will assess current court budget projections and determine whether the closings will resume in September, said Superior Court Executive Officer Michael Roddy.

The California Judicial Council approved the unprecedented closings because of the Legislature’s reduced state funding to the courts. San Diego County’s court closings began in September.

Court facilities housing county operations such as the District Attorney’s Office, Probation and Child Support will be open on Wednesday, but courtrooms will stay closed.

The public is urged to visit the court’s Web site at www.sdcourt.ca.gov to handle traffic tickets or get court information. A recorded message regarding the court closing is available at (619) 450-7400.
