County shelters to waive fees for adopting older dogs

Share

The Department of Animal Services will waive adoption fees until Sept. 4 on dogs that are five years of age or older or any dog that has been at the shelter for over 30 days, Director Dawn Danielson announced Tuesday.

This adoption special will allow only two dogs per household can be adopted. This incentive follows an announcement last week that all adoption fees for kitties six months and older would be waived.

“What better time than the summer to bring a new dog or cat into the family,” said Danielson. “We are looking for new pet parents who know that they want to add a new four-legged family member but they just haven’t taken the time to visit our shelters. Maybe this is just the incentive needed to encourage families to make the ultimate commitment.”

All dogs and cats will be neutered or spayed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to going home with their new family. For more information on adoptions at any of the three County animal shelters, or to view photos of available animals, visit
