Country Day girls capture state volleyball title; Bishop’s heading for football championships

La Jolla Country Day School’s girls volleyball team are the best in the state.

The Torreys captured their first state title Saturday with an impressive win over Sacramento Christian Brothers, 25-19, 25-20,25-17. The title games were played at UC Irvine.

The victory followed a Friday night football loss for the Torreys at the hands of Francis Parker, which will play for the Division IV title at Qualcomm on Friday.

Francis Parker be joined for the CIF Southern Section football title games at the Q by The Bishop’s School, which beat Christian 28-27 Friday when Christian’s kicker missed a point after at the end of the game.
