Country Day, Bishop’s score CIF titles; LJHS misses out
La Jolla teams wrapped up CIF San Diego Section play Saturday with mixed results.
The Bishop’s School’s boys soccer team edged La Jolla Country Day, 2-1, on penalty kicks in the Division IV championship game. In the other matchup between the two schools -- D-IV girls basketball -- Country Day came out on top with a 62-51 victory over the Knights.
La Jolla High School lost both of its section finals, one on a heartbreaking free throw at the buzzer in the boys D-III basketball game. Mount Miguel overcame the Vikings, taking home the trophy with a 47-46 win. Meanwhile, the Viking girls suffered a 2-0 loss to Coronado in the D-III soccer title match.
