Controlled burn at Miramar scheduled for Saturday

Plumes of smoke may be visible from the direction of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Saturday afternoon as military emergency services crews conduct a routine controlled burn on the base.

The training session is scheduled to begin about 2 p.m. and last for roughly two hours, according to the USMC station’s public affairs office.

The controlled blaze on the airfield is not expected to cause any visibility problems for motorists, base officials said.
