Conner’s Cause Gala raises more than $62,000
The Conner’s Cause for Children 15th Annual Benefit Gala was held at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Oct. 11. The gala raised more than $62,000, which will go to local families struggling with the out-of-pocket costs of caring for a child with a life-threatening illness.
Conner’s Cause for Children was formed by friends of John and Judy Champ, who found that there were many expenses not covered by their health insurance when their 4-year-old son, Conner, was diagnosed with a fatal brain tumor 15 years ago. These friends held fundraisers to help the Champs with the unforeseen expenses.
Conner’s Cause for Children is the only non-profit organization in the San Diego region that offers direct family assistance for out-of-pocket expenses relating to any and all life-threatening illnesses associate with children. The organization has helped more than 1,500 families with direct financial assistance.
