Congratulations to the Jack-O-Lantern contest winner

Readers of La Jolla Light have named Muirland’s Middle School student Gabryelle Quiggle the winner of the online Jack-O-Lantern contest.

“I designed it on the computer first using AddictingGames.com,” Gabryelle said.

After she had her design, she then printed it out and used it to map out her carving.

The 11-year-old La Jolla resident used a thin steak knife to carve a spooky face into a pumpkin.

“I wanted to do something scary, but normal at the same time,” Gabryelle said.

Her strategy worked because readers voted it as being their favorite.

Gabryelle will receive a $50 gift certificate to Froglanders on Pearl Street.
