Clairemont bank robbed

By City News Service

A tall, unshaven man used a demand note to rob a Clairemont bank Thursday, authorities reported.

The thief, who appeared to be in his 20s, handed the message to a teller at the Chase Bank branch office in the 4700 block of Clairemont Drive about 2 p.m., according to San Diego police.

After the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the bandit walked out of the bank and fled the area on foot to the southwest, San Diego Police Department Sgt. Ray Battrick said.

Witnesses told investigators the robber was wearing khaki pants, a black-and-red shirt, and a navy-blue baseball cap.
