City crews working on Pearl Street traffic signals

City crews are presently working on a series of traffic signals on Pearl Street between Girard Avenue and La Jolla Boulevard, which have been blinking red the past two days.

“The blinking is because the voltage is low,” said Cezar Navarro, city traffic signal technician. “It could be some loose wires that are responsible for them not working. First we have to deal with SDG&E, which provides our power. We have to find out if the power problem is coming from their services.”

Navarro said city traffic crews were dispatched Thursday to reset the problem traffic signals, and that they were working for awhile before going bad again. Crews were also there working there on Wednesday night.
