Church sponsors aid for Haitians

On March 16, MedShare shipped a 40-foot container of requested medical supplies to Partners in Health to support the treatment of earthquake victims in Haiti. The medical aid shipment was sponsored by La Jolla Presbyterian Church, with shipping donated by the UPS Foundation.

The shipment contained more than 1,200 pieces of medical supplies and equipment, such as assorted types of bandages, cast materials, crutches, gloves, syringes and patient hygiene care kits. Partners in Health will distribute the items among the 12 health care facilities it supports in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas of Haiti.

“The medical needs in Haiti are still overwhelming, with many hospitals still overcrowded and having to perform secondary wound care operations on earthquake victims. With the help of organizations such as La Jolla Presbyterian Church, we are continuing to respond to the medical needs prevalent throughout Haiti,” said A.B. Short, chief executive officer of MedShare.
