Church marks end of anti-malaria campaign with community party Sunday, Sept. 28
The La Jolla United Methodist Church (LJUMC), along with other churches of the UMC denomination, has been raising awareness and collecting donations toward reducing the burden of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa. The church has reached the end of the Imagine No Malaria campaign and, having accomplished an inspired pledge total, plans to celebrate.
Since a number of community donations were received after an article announcing the project appeared in La Jolla Light, LJUMC is opening the celebration to all!
The community’s African-themed party will start at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at La Jolla United Methodist Church, 6063 La Jolla Blvd.
It will be preceded by a 10 a.m. worship service.
Tickets will be available on site (adults $5, children under 12, free) for African food, music, and silent auction (including, among other items, a Tony Gwynn signed baseball and a Sheryl Crow signed guitar). There will also be a petting zoo and other activities for the kids. All proceeds will go to the INM campaign to eliminate malaria in sub-Sahara Africa. Questions?
