Children’s Museum opens with a splash

The New Children’s Museum has been a long time in coming, but it’s finally here - and staunch supporters celebrated the happy occasion with a grand opening dinner and exhibition. La Jolla’s own Carol Fox (one of the founders) recalled how the museum was born - with discussions around her kitchen table, years ago.

Fortunately, the new facilities are well worth the wait. San Diego children will have a ball creating arts and crafts and exploring the interesting three-level downtown facility - with its huge atrium-style interior, hands-on activities, and kid-friendly artworks. In fact, the VIPs attending the pre-opening gala felt like kids again as they partied in the lower level of the museum, before going up to the main floor for a sit-down dinner.

The large local guest list included Todd and Jake Figi, David and Patsy Marino, David and Sandra Arkin, Sheryl and Harvey White, Phyllis Epstein, Barbara Bry, Steve Strauss and Lise Wilson, Jessica York, Howard and Andrea Greenberg, Joe and Linda Satz, Jennifer Luce, Pat Hughes and Hal and Susan Small.
