Chevron remodel delayed

Plans by La Jolla Chevron owner Chris Medeiros to discontinue his repair shop and add a high-end convenience store at his service station at the corner of Pearl Street and La Jolla Boulevard have been delayed.

“I had to postpone the remodel due to problems with a delay in a bank loan,” Medeiros said. “The remodel has been postponed until January.”

Medeiros stressed that plans to remodel the building converting the garage area into a big convenience store with high-end coffees and hot and cold specialty foods, lottery tickets, beer and wine will not affect selling gas, which will continue as usual at the site.

Following the station’s transformation next year, a mobile mechanic will continue to operate in the area, but mechanical repairs will no longer be done onsite.

Medeiros said the remodel won’t involve increasing the square footage of the building at 7475 La Jolla Blvd., but gutting it and making it over, keeping the back walls intact.
