Before parents headed off to visit their children’s classrooms at Bird Rock Elementary School’s Open House on Sept. 23, members of the Bird Rock Community Council presented the school with two checks. One, for $25,000, was from the Taste of Bird Rock, and the other for $9,150 - a surprise to everyone - came from 2009 Tour of Bird Rock Homes proceeds. Community council members thanked the merchants and restaurants of Bird Rock for their participation and support and the homeowners and local sponsors of the tour event. Julie Ryan
