The Chargers were busy with roster moves Wednesday.
They put defensive end Luis Castillo on “Reserve-Injured,” ending a 13-week effort to get him healthy by the end of the season. Castillo injured his tibia in the season opener against Minnesota. He’d started 46 of the Chargers’ last 49 regular-season games at left defensive end before the injury. Vaughn Martin has been playing in his spot.
The team also signed linebacker Nate Triplett to a two-year deal.
The 6-3, 250-pound linebacker is a first-year player who spent seven weeks on the Chargers’ practice squad in 2010. Triplett signed with Indianapolis in December 2010 and played in the Colts’ final five games on special teams. He also appeared in Indianapolis’ two playoff games.
Triplett, who attended the University of Minnesota, played in three games this season for Indianapolis. He will wear No. 96 for the Chargers.
Also signed was signed defensive end Damik Scafe, who was added to the practice squad. The 6-2, 300-pound rookie from Boston College was with the team in training camp.
