Chargers elevate marketing, sales duo
The San Diego Chargers on Tuesday announced two promotions in the leadership of the team’s marketing and sales efforts.
Chargers Executive Vice President A.G. Spanos announced that Ken Derrett, the team’s top marketing officer, has been elevated to senior vice president and chief marketing officer and Denny O’Leary is now vice president of marketing partnerships.
“We feel our sales efforts have been strong and producing at the same championship level as our team on the field,” said Spanos.
Derrett, a Carmel Valley resident, took over the team’s sales and marketing efforts when he joined the Chargers in 2001, overseeing across-the-board growth in sales in sponsorship and broadcast sales, tickets and suites, eCommerce and merchandise. He has led the team’s efforts to grow the Chargers’ presence across a variety of media outlets throughout Southern California and Mexico, in both English and Spanish.
O’Leary, of Sorrento Valley, followed Derrett to San Diego in ’02 and has been responsible for the development, sales and management of new and existing strategic partnerships. He has built a strong sponsorship team while growing a strong roster of business partners. He is charged with growing the Chargers’ media business as the team takes on additional advertising inventory with its broadcast partners.
