Charger player shot

The San Diego Chargers confirmed Friday that rookie running back Curtis Brinkley was hospitalized in his native Philadelphia with gunshot wounds.

Brinkley, 23, was listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at a Philadelphia hospital, according to broadcast reports.

Philadelphia police said Brinkley was driving when his vehicle came to a stop and a man approached on foot and shot him twice. The running back, who played for Syracuse University, drove off and got help, according to police.

The Chargers issued a statement saying the “entire organization wishes Curtis a quick and full recovery.’'
