Ballet buffs got a rare chance to get up-close-and-personal with one of the dance world’s leading prima ballerinas, Susan Jaffee of the American Ballet Theater. The champagne and dessert reception, held in the spectacular home of Craig and Joyce Grosvenor, was sponsored by City Ballet.
City Ballet directors Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich - longtime La Jollans - had reason to be proud of the company’s accomplishments, and so did the board members on hand for the event. A taped City Ballet performance playing in the party room during the reception showed supporters the high level of professionalism the local ballet troupe has attained under the Wistriches’ savvy direction.
Among those enjoying the sinfully rich desserts and mingling with the legendary dancer were Rachel Grosvenor, Linda and Joe Satz (representing the Mandell Weiss Foundation), County Commissioner Pam Slater-Price and her husband Hershel, Art and Stephanie Myers, City Ballet dancers Ariana Samuelsson and Ivan Bielik, Ron Cole, Brian Marsh, Sharon Abdi, Robert and Kathleen Verratti, Paul Daffinee and Veronica McQuillan, and Alex and Denise Larkin.
