CEO of San Diego County airport authority nabbed for federal committee

The chief executive officer of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has been named to a new federal committee on the future of the U.S. aviation industry, it was announced Friday.

Thella Bowens was appointed to the Future of Aviation Advisory Committee by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, according to the Airport Authority.

The 15-member committee, which will hold its first meeting May 25 in Washington, D.C., was established to provide information, advice and recommendations to LaHood on ensuring the competitiveness of the U.S. aviation industry, according to the Airport Authority.

The committee will meet five times over the next year, after which it will issue its recommendations.
