Bishop’s loses 55-20 in championship

The Bishops Knights wore white to their CIF Division V championship game against Francis Parker last Friday morning but by the end of the game, junior Alec Fisher’s uniform was brown.

In a rout in which Francis Parker led 34-0 at the half and finished up 55-20, Fisher was a standout. As a running back, he carried the ball 27 times for 242 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to 46 receiving yards. He also made plays on the other side of the ball as a defensive back, making four tackles.

Bishops had their hands full with Francis Parker quarterback Deon Randall, who returned a punt for a touchdown at the end of the first half, and running back Kenny Brookins, who racked up 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Bishop’s was unable to best Parker, who will now play for the state title, but the Knights had some great offensive plays, including a successful fake punt.

To get Bishop’s on the scoreboard, sophomore quarterback Joey Moreno threw a screen pass to Fisher for a 30-yard touchdown.

Despite rain that fell steadily throughout most of the third quarter, the Bishop’s fans remained loud and faithful at Qualcomm Stadium.
