Bishop’s basketball teams play ‘Hoops for Haiti’

Members of The Bishop’s School boys and girls basketball teams are playing for Haiti on Wednesday night.

Stephen Kaiser, co-captain of the varsity team, said he “recently came up with the idea to have a fundraiser for the earthquake victims of Haiti, called Hoops for Haiti.”

In their games against Francis Parkers — girls at 5:30 p.m. and boys at 7 — they are asking for donations of 10, 25 or 50 cents or dollar “or any other increments” for each point scored, Kaiser explained.

All of the money will go to San Diego-based International Relief Teams to assist with their work in Haiti. For information about the group go to www.irteams.org.

Kaiser, who said he has never led an effort of this kind, said he organized it because “I saw the devastation and thought I could help.”
