Bishop's School welcomes new students

The Bishop’s School recently honored 155 new students at the annual Matriculation Ceremony when they were welcomed into the Bishop’s Community.

Matriculation is the term used to describe a student’s formal entry into a school.

At the ceremony all returning students, faculty and staff were witnesses as the new students processed onto the Quadrangle. From the porch of Bentham Hall, Aimeclaire Roche, head of school; Laura Aguilar, Class of 2011, president of the Associated Student Body Council; and Joan Whitney Flagg, Class of 1982, addressed the gathering.

Flagg, the president of the Bishop’s Alumni Association and current parent, spoke of the generations of students who are part of the School’s history.

In keeping with the act of placing their names upon the matricula, or roll of members of the institution, new students in grades six through 12 wrote their names in The Great


When they graduate, their names will be listed on the walls of St. Mary’s Chapel.
