Bicyclist sustains compound fracture in collision with sport utility vehicle in La Jolla

A woman was hospitalized Tuesday, Jan. 31 with a compound leg fracture that she suffered when her bicycle collided with a sport utility vehicle in La Jolla, police said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Girard Avenue and Pearl Street at 4:49 p.m., said San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, was riding northbound on Girard Avenue and crossing Pearl Street against a flashing red signal when she collided with a Ford SUV driven by a woman in her 40s, he said.
The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment a compound leg fracture, Delimitros said.
The crash was being investigated by the SDPD Traffic Division.
