Bicyclist injured in collision on Pearl Street in La Jolla
A male bicyclist was injured in a collision with a car driven by a young woman at Cuvier and Pearl streets near Jack in the Box restaurant at about 5:20 p.m. Friday.
Witnesses said the car had been making a left-hand turn onto Cuvier and didn’t see the bicyclist. He hit her car on the right-front side and was catapulted into the car’s windshield before bouncing off onto the street, said one man.
Witnesses at the scene said the cyclist was initially dazed and unresponsive, but he quickly regained his composure as a passerby equipped with a stethescope and blood pressure cuff tended to him.
A fire engine responded to the scene and paramedics began treating him for injuries which included lacerations. He was fully conscious by the time they arrived, but it appeared he sustained an injury to his shoulder.
