BEWARE: String of burglaries in Bird Rock’s Upper Hermosa neighborhood

On Monday, police reported three residential burglaries occurred in Bird Rock on 5200 Chelsea St., 5944 Folsom Drive and 5700 Waverly Drive between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..

The suspects entered the residence by smashing or kicking in a rear door.

The suspects are two black males in their early to mid ‘20s. The suspect vehicle is possibly an older model two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse dark or burnt orange in color.

A neighbor of the burglary victim on Folsom Drive said a woman returning from a walk at noon found two men in her bedroom robbing her house.

She was able to tiptoe backwards and run away to call the police and is safe, but the thieves escaped with valuable family treasures. The suspects came in and left through a broken window in a French door, without tripping an alarm.

Police suspect the same criminals may be responsible for all three crimes.

Alan Alvarez of San Diego Police Department public affairs encourages residents in the area who see anyone, or any vehicle, that is suspicious looking and might be casing the neighborhood, or if they witness a crime in progress, to call police at 619-531-2000 or 911.

Alvarez also reminded residents to report solicitors or similar suspicious people to police.
