Benatar gives it her best shot at Promises2Kids concert
The second annual concert benefiting Promises2Kids on June 2 featured rock legends Pat Benatar and her guitarist husband, Neil (Spider) Giraldo, performing a set of hits under the stars at the La Jolla estate of board member Joan Waitt.
Benatar told the crowd that as a mother of two daughters, the cause of child care and protection is close to her heart. She wrote the 1980 song “Hell Is For Children” to draw attention to abuse tragedies and donates the royalties to children’s charities.
Patrons enjoyed the concert that capped off an evening of cocktails, appetizers, silent and live auction bidding, and dinner prepared by the Hyatt Regency in La Jolla.
Promises2Kids supports the programs at the Polinsky Children’s Center and other child welfare organizations to stop the cycle of abuse in San Diego. More at
